Headline: Summary of the most suggestions for MM IX
Description:
more Acromage (maybe different leagues), new cards, maybe 2-3 opponents in a
game
multiplayer
A lot of people are confused about the SciFi at the and of the game. It may
be tradition in MM but they don't like to fight with blasters against robots
Better graphic ;-) but it should run on older systems, too.
the most gamers wish larger dungeons (like in MM6)
fools who tell funny jokes, like in mm6
more and better riddles (comparable with MM3-5; a crossword-riddle at the
end as in MM 4 would be nice)
different solutions for a subquest (e.g. in Fallout I had to help a farmer
to remove a dog off the door of the farm. I could kill the dog, give him some
meat (and he followed me) or I could kill the farmer (because it was his
problem that he couldn't enter his home - in this case it was solved, too).
group-talents: each character is able to identify, repair or buy / sell for
the best price if one of the characters in the party has the necessary talent
a party with 4 or 5 members + 2 mercenaries
on half wish a monster respawn the other half decline it. The best way is a
different solution in an adventure and a warrior mode as in MM4 and MM5 By a
respawn it would be nice if the monsters are relative to the party-level (on
level 80 it is too easy to fight against a horde of simple goblins)
random encounters by travelling over-land or pirate attack by travelling
over sea
different classes and races (as in MM1-MM7, for example a half-ork mage or
an gremlin warrior ;-))
new classes (not only knight, cleric, mage and scout)
special promotions for one character that must be solved without the rest of
the party (e.g. a thieve has to pass a labyrinth with a lot of traps)
Not identified items should have only the price and effect of the simplest
item of their class.
show the exactly range of damage of each weapon (not only 2d3 + 2)
experience points for success by using talents (identify, heal, repair,
unlock)
learning-by-doing; a chance that some skills increase only by using them
very often
don't heal all damage by a simple 8-hour-rest (in the real live you need
days or weeks to heal)
What is with critical hits? When I have an arrow in my right arm I can't
attack so good, can I?
decreasing hitpoints if you are poisoned, illness and poison increase by
duration (and reduce the main attributes of the character) - as in mm3 (and
4/5?)
each enemy has random hitpoints in a range (not only 10 points but also 5 -
15 points); more creativity by the subtype of the monsters in one race (not
only red, blue, gold or little, medium, great)
better intelligence of the NPCs; the townspeople shouldn't say all the
same; MM6 was good in this point
dragons in the party are popular but too strong in the fight (MM8 is very
easy if you have 4 dragons in the party)
the bank should give interests for the gold
different views of the characters on different levels (a crusader
or hero should look more powerful than a simple paladin)
new spells, a better balance between light and shadow (shadow is too mighty)
maybe a lord-level (better then greatmaster) for the mage in one discipline
(f. e. in water; a waterlord can only be a master (not greatmaster) in fire
but has maximum power in water. Maybe he is transformed to an elemental (like
the transformation to a lich).
2 or better 3 buttons (and keystrokes!) for quickspell per person
a spell starts with f. e. 70 % of this power and increase by using up to 150
% or so; the same is it with a weapon or armortype (when I wear as yet a
simple plate armor and got a new kingsplate I start with this new subtype of
armor by 70 %; when I switch to an other kingsplate the bonus remains.
healing of weakness, illness or poison on the greatmaster-level work on the
party not only on one member
Ability to stack Herbs (f. e. 10 on one Stack) or an special herbs bag
More Locations, the buildings in each town looks different (as in HoMM).
secret locations
the NWC-dungeon should make sense and is harder to find
better intelligence of monsters (it is very stupid when all monsters run to
the position under me (when I fly) so that I be able to kill them all with
some meteors).
different and "real" weather (f. e. damage by hail; when I fly by
storm the wind affected my movement, I freeze in the winter or polar region
without any cape and sweat with a cape in the summer / dessert)
a useful (means more powerful) Armageddon (50 HP damage are really funny by
goblins but not by dragons or titans).
more artifacts or special items with a little bonus (as in Diabolo); artifacts
have to be more powerful (a lionsword of dragon in MM6? was more powerful as
any artifact-sword)
Have the party-members in the character-screen of MM8 swallow a staff? They
look so ...
lesser gold or better: a buy-experience-well (why should I be a
multimillionaire at the end of the game?)
a own castle with a real function; It would be nice, if I upgrade it as in
HoMM to get better spells or items. Enemies could randomly attack the castle
and a carrier inform me, that I have to save it in a fixed period of time;
maybe I can conjure elementals or hire soldiers to defend the castle for a
longer period.
a profound non-linear story with intrigues etc., many things are not so
how they seem ...
more different weapons, armor or other items
a detail-statistic (at the end?) with the number of killed enemies (maybe
the number of rats, of insects, of robbers ...), exactly time, gold, solved
quests ...; maybe you can save the statistic as a nice html-file
more often arena-matches (not only one times per week); ranks in the arena
(as in the headhunter-guild in mm8)
Longer or more music!
(or a music-loop). It is infuriating, when I walk
about 1 hour in a dungeon and have only 5 minutes music.
I get a empty bottle, when I drink a potion; maybe I must fill it with water
(on a well, river or spring) before I can use the bottle once again for
alchemistry.
The party get up at 6 o'clock or any store open at 5 o'clock.
What is with Japanese weapons and armor (Samurai)?
support for joystick
maybe I can build / combine some items like in HoMM 3
a real landscape with farms (and working farmers and pets), animals (and
their sounds) ...
Headline: More intelligent quests and harmonious environment
Description:
1.. More intelligent quests: Different solutions, hidden hints for a unusual, clever solution. Go to dungeon X, kill all monsters, open the last chest and get the quest item - this is very boring. The possible ways to solve a quest should be depending on the members of the party. A dwarf in the party had a good chance to get an information from other dwarfs, a water master in the party can tell something about water magic to a novice and get some hints as pay ... Maybe it is possible to steal, corrupt or fool other persons and this effects to the future. If I chose the easiest solution for a quest maybe follow an other, more harder quest.
2.. Lesser hordes of monsters: Why attack me all peoples / monsters? Why can I not only say "Hello" (or ask for a job)? Robbers doesn't attack me, when I paid protection money ... Why fight the monster to its last hit point and doesn't flee or surrender? When I spare a horde of goblins they help me in the future or they follow me and attack me, when I sleep. Which unused possibilities!
3.. A more useful diplomacy! And here too: my party effected it. An elf in my party is able to placate unicorns and when I attack them he leave my party (for some days).
4.. More individuality by the items. It is boring, if I find 20 swords of fire. Please have (only in this case) a look to Diabolo II. There is each item individual and randomly created. It would be nice, if I could collocate a set of armor and weaponswith a extra bonus if I wear the complete set. It must be harder to get items or spells (I have to solve a hard quest to get the jealously watched Fireball-Spell). It is not very funny, if I have only to buy a book and read it.
5.. Why have each creature (wypherns, dragons, unicorns ...) gold or weapons? When the unicorns attack me, it is more real, when I collect the horns and a smith in a dwarfish workshop build an item (f. e. a powerful mace with 6 horns and 3 pile iron).
6.. Magic is too easy. Why is it not possible to specialize to one or two spells (like implosion), which made terribly damage by a high skill.
7.. Hide the treasures better. Not only go into the dungeon, kill monsters, open the chests. No; you have to talk with peoples, get many informations, puzzle map-fragments, find old keys ... Treasure search have not be a fee for killing lots of monsters, it should have the quality of a separate treasure hunting.
Description:
Like all the other fans I'm looking forward to the new Migh & Magic-adventure. Perhaps this time my biggest wish will come true and the game will end the same it will probably beginn - in a Fantasy- and not in a SF-world. If I want to shoot with laserblasters at robots, I can buy a different kind of games. Apart from that I find that the number of monsters (above all outdoors) should be reduced and there should not be a reset-time. Otherwise I liked the mix of quests, riddles and fights in mm7 and mm8. I found it well-balanced.
Larger dungeons with difficult riddles (like in Wizards & Warriors). Of course, everything should be logic and fair so that the "newbies" don't despair. The golden mean would be the best.
More intelligent monsters who cooperate one with the other. But not these hordes of monsters like in the former parts of Might & Magic, which were easy to kill but boring.
More interaction between the characters of the party - love, hate and so on (example: Baldur's Gate II).
I like the system with the NPC's one can sign on in Might & Magic VIII and I wish that for mm9 too. (with the stories about every character and may be special quests that one just gets with the respective character in the party)
Multiplayeroption - no game can manage without that today.
It should be possible to play the game also with a "weaker" computer.
Description:
In Might & Magic VII one could create every character him- or herself. Why not in mm8? I hope that Ican create the characters myself again in mm9. Besides there could be new classes like Shamans or Invocators.
Description:
no more excessive hords of monsters, which takes hours to defeat with the "hit and run" - tactic. Instead of this I'd appreciate a better artificial intelligence of the opponents and a more balanced power-/weakness-system. In addition: no more spaceships and no more science fiction. Laser-weapons and broadswords aren't a good match. Arcomage was super. More playing cards, please.
Description:
In MM6 the world was huge. There were a lot of dungeons and many quests. It took me five month to complete it. In MM7 the world was smaller
and , accordingly , there were less dungeons and quests. In MM8 the world was still smaller and I completed it in about two weeks. My wish: More quests and a huger world, even if a third CD is necessary.
decisions and actions should always have consequences (like the prison in MM7 ). In MM8 it made no sense, that dragons continued to join or
teach the party after all other dragons had been killed by it.
more dungeons and cities, which all must be visited. There were a lot of quests in MM8, which needn't to be accomplished. Entering a dungeon could
have consequences. E.g. a character refuses entering a cave, as he/her is an elf and hates dwarfs.
Quests, as there were in MM3 ( I suppose ) like solving a crossword by using words of the game's progression. May be it can be solved only after
certain other quests have been solved.
No more dungeons like Brinnies' tomb. The player is annoyed with the time it takes to load the dungeon from disk. And the flute he receives is the
key to another dumb dungeon.
Description:
Thus, I really enjoyed MM6-8, but more and more I'm tired of these monotonous landscapes with thousands of monsters. I'd like to have more and huger
locations. Not only more in number, but someway different. I want have the feeling, that it's really a world, I walk through. ( like Betrayal at Krondor
). All in all it is a good game. ( May be more DIFFERENT monsters, not only other colors ).
Description:
-a better KI
-every citizen should live his own life
-characterdevelopment (?) as it is in mm6
-good atmosphere ( good sound, wheather efects, good grafik-engine ... )
Description:
Despite that everyone wants to have the game as soon as possible:
3DO should take more time to find and eliminate the bugs.
To the game:
I would like to have a mixture from Might and Magic VI(size of the game und of the dungeons) and M&M VII(characters, potion system, choose light or dark). Some really difficult riddles like in Wiardry 7 would also be nice.
Description:
Normally it doesn´t disturb me when a game hasn´t very nice graphics as far as it makes fun. But especially in a 3D role-playing game the landscape should look as realistic as possible to feel better within this world.
Therefor my request: Do some better graphics in the Might and MAgic games!
Headline: mostly like Might and Magic VII but some more
Description:
Might and Magic VII was the best Might and MAgic until now! Mostly it could stay all the same but there could be 5 or 6 characters and not a adventurer´s Inn.
To have more suitable items would be nice.
For example 10 rings not 6(you have 10 fingers so).
That increases the motivation. I also like Acromage very much and it should stay!
Description:
Although I´ve always liked to play the Might and Magic-Series there are some things that are disturbing me.
The masses of enemies who shouldn´t be only reduced but fall away complete. If the group meets a six men strong gang of robbers it should be a danger. The dungeons should get more thrilling with difficult riddles and INDIVIDIUAL enemies.
The people in towns! They should eventual not look the same and they something important some time. A magician should look like a magician!
The dungeons have to get much greater. Quality, not Qnuantity. Therefore they should differ from each other.
A group should be of six persons that you can arrange them better. And it´s like before and should stay the same.
The loveless magic system would need a revision of its areas. Instead of fire/water/earth/air there should be special areas like fight/conversion or antimagic perhaps even meta magic. If I use an ice bolt or a fire bolt is at last all the same-the one is blue the other red, and? Oh yes the resistances I know, also useless. An overall magic resistance would be enough. Although it would be an advantage to have more character special magic. Why have the druids for example no own spells and be a cheap mixture of a mgician and a cleric?
The character classes! Why those mixed-types? A ranger shoould have his own adventages and not be a mixture. Something like a bard with real functions(real use of its abilities). But it´s not as bad as the more-classes AD&D-characters.
Might and Magic states to be a role-playing game but where is the social interaction between the characters and NPCs? Why can´t I just talk to them about different themes?
Sorry to all who like Might and Magic as it it but I think that the strucure could be used for more than a simple hack and slay! But there aren´t many other possibilities. The DSA-series was good but technical totally outdated and had a lack of typical features of todays role-playing games. Baldurs gate is a good game but I didn´t like the atmosphere of the world(Fotgotten realms); also the magic system is crap. I don´t like games with only one character(Ultima or Lands of Lore) and the rest(Ishar, dark sun,...) is nothing more then absolut crap.
Rike
p.s.: I know that it´s tradition but I think the blasters simply doesn´t fit in. Fantasy should stay fantasy.
Description:
Quests should be more superior! There should be quests, you do not have to clear a whole dungeon to solve them. It were better, if citizens would give significant information, that could be needed to solve a quest. Citizens should not tell you the same again and again. More riddles and dungeons (these should also be bigger) and a support for a Joystick.
The Graphic Engine from MM6 could become reused; the
same applies to the I-perspective and the stearing.
A change of the seasons with rain and snowfall and the citizens wearing the corresponding clothes (in MM6 women went through the snow in a "Dirndl").
Nature lives! Birds and mammals and their voices or a storm you should be able to hear (just like HoMM III).
Citizens LIVE, that means, that they are working. A farmer i.e. has a farmyard with animals to feed and grtain fields to cultivate etc.
Four selfmade characters (with default party)
Extra points at the beginning
The ability to choice between Adventurer mode (less and easier opponents) and Fighter mode (more and more difficult opponents)
Choice of Light or Darkness
Two NPC's as characters (MM8) or as assistance (MM6)
Complication of quests by more and more difficult riddles
Arcomage or other games like circus
Interest for Gold deposed on a bank
If traveling by boat or coach you should see the landscape (i.e. in a video)
You should need a passport to enter a city
Less barrels, but those that are there should be useable by all partymembers one time and should have a greater volume (one point
is absurd)
The enchantments of items should correspond to the level in water magic.
a greater terrain (at least four times greater than MM8)
no unmotivated citizans walking away
less massacres (if an area or a city is cleared, it should remain cleared or new scrouges should come
the possibility to recruit more mercanary soldiers for some fixed quests
a connection to the world of the Elder should be created
if there are ancient weapons (Blaster), they should be more effective (I prefered to attack my opponents in MM8 with normal weapons, because
they were better than the ancient ones, even against robots).
Description:
The Adventurers Inn makes the game multifaceted, but you have to solve a quest several times and each time with other characters, to solve it with the right one, or you have to take a Help, and that should not be the way the ame goes.
the riddles are more difficult again; not like: get something from location A and take it to location B
the dungeons are bigger again and contain some intelligent astonishments (i.e. difficult disarming of traps)
the eligible characters correspond with the players level, that means, that I am not able to recruit a nearly undefeatable level 50 dragon at the beginning of the game
the spelltypes get revised, the spell "Invisibility" could be taken from the game
and for the last: it cannot take enough time to solve all quests.
Description:
All in all MM can be as it was before: in fact the combatsystem, the charactersystem and the magicsystem are well made; maybe new spells and a
new formationsystem (just like Wizardry) could be integrated. The bad touch of the game is created by the liveless and static characters: NPC's and citizens look almost the same and are not able to bear an own existence, but anly walk through the cities at night and day.
Cities and villiages also look the same (except the elven cities), although traveling to other continents and cultures. Otherwise I am only able to agree to the other proposals: Decisions like Light or Darkness are cool; games like Arcomage aerate the Gameplay (what would you say to a combat, a knights tournament for example). I liked the idea of the own castle very much, but it should be developed (i.e. the touch of a simulation).
PS: A lot of items would be great, because this raises the motivation.
Description:
I would like MM9 to have more riddles again. It would also be great, if something unexpectedhappened or new challenges were asked for. The game
should be a bit more difficult than MM8, which was very easy, if you had two Darkelf-Patriarchs and three Greater Wurms in your party. Maybe it is possible to integrate new characters / opponents. Those should master various skills, just like it has particularly be done in MM8. Maybe 3DO can make MM9 as interesting as MM6, only with a new Graphic Engine.
Description:
In most cases I´m with the opinion of darkjoe(a fixed group, seperation of light/dark, etc.) but I also have some more incitations. The riddles. How about making more and at least some challenging ones? And I´m for it not only to overwork the magic classes but to determine the magicians to specialize on an area.
For example: A magician can learn all elemantary spells up to the master level but only one to great master.
