I'm sorry, but unfortunately the company reLINE broke down the first time, just when the english version was about to be puplished. If I remember correctly there were sold only - 10 - original units worldwide!!martinblais hat geschrieben:Greeting

I don't have an original english version myself, even if I was the programmer. So I think it's quite impossible to get one.
Somewhere I still have the original master disks of the english version, but after so much years I don't think, they will work anymore.

Gee, the copy-protection is still working? After 12 Years? Unbeleavable! I did a good job there, I guess!martinblais hat geschrieben:I do own an english version of the game but its not original and at somepoint in the game I have a request to put a password and after a while the game is bugging ..........I grew up playing this game and even with today standard this is the best RPG I ever played
So, what you need, is just the english manual with it's informations and password-maps. Check out Runetek's site at
http://dungeony.cz/fate/hlavni.html
There's a complete copy of the manual in txt-format. Also you'll find all neccessary maps and graphics there. I've scanned them some years ago and given them to Runetek.

The site from Runetek has dissapeared some time ago. I do however have a copy of that manual somewhere lying around. Moment please..... Ahh, found it. I will try to attach it to this message. So, what you need, is just the english manual with it's informations and password-maps. Check out Runetek's site at

In the game there will be refences to pictures from the manual. Runetek had them included in the German manual but not in the English. You will find these in 1 file attached to this message.
Have fun with Fate!

Maybe the publisher just told me that they have sold only 10 units to save money, but I'm sure there weren't sold very much. In any case, I've got nothing for the english version ....zenyrrah hat geschrieben:I'm sorry, but unfortunately the company reLINE broke down the first time, just when the english version was about to be puplished. Nevetheless Fate 1 has spread all over the world. I've got letters from nearly each country, from Taiwan to Australia, South Africa to Canada. But most of the versions were just illegal copies. Of course the password stuff was still inside!
When I last checked out Runtek's site, at least the downloads were still there.
Olaf
I am still wondering: was there ever an Atari version on sale? I have always bought Amiga versions but have never seen an Atari version except for illegal copies.Maybe the publisher just told me that they have sold only 10 units to save money, but I'm sure there weren't sold very much. Yes, I've created also an Atari Version, but it was sold only in Germany. At the moment I don't remember if I made an English Atari version.zenyrrah hat geschrieben:I am still wondering: was there ever an Atari version on sale? Hm, then I must have made an english version, too, I guess!zenyrrah hat geschrieben:I have a illegal copy of an English Atari version.
But I still can't remember that days. Our company broke down and only heaven knows, what the publisher Softgold has done with the different Fate versions. I'm sure only about one thing: We didn't get any money from them for the game ...
Olaf
You will wonder why I did ask the last question (Free- or Abandonware?). Well if it is okay for you and it is okay for Runetek (who did not yet reply) I would like to put Runetek's website online someplace in such a matter that Fate can be in reach for the people who will like to play it. I do have for instance a harddrive-installed-version with an Atari-emulator (sorry but I am more an Atari-guy then Amiga
). Given your circumstances it would be an idea to open a Paypal-account for you (maybe you can do it yourself?) and those who can could pay directly to you a donation as a "Thank You".
It is amazing how many people are still looking for Fate.

I'm not sure by myself. The copyrights of the game belonged to Softgold at that time. This company has vanished, they are calling themselves now THQ. So naturally the rights will be by THQ, but I don't think anyone of them remember the name Fate!zenyrrah hat geschrieben:You will wonder why I did ask the last question (Free- or Abandonware?).
Runetek got never problems with his site, Xajorkith neither. So you can consider Fate 1 as somekind of abandonware.
Yes, I'm sure you can do it. Since THQ doesn't care about it til now, the risk is very low. But wouldn't it be better to use an Amiga version? The Amiga Version had at least 32 colors, the Atari version had only 16. Also the Amiga version had better sounds.zenyrrah hat geschrieben:Well if it is okay for you and it is okay for Runetek (who did not yet reply) I would like to put Runetek's website online someplace in such a matter that Fate can be in reach for the people who will like to play it. Yes, that's right. So a new source for the old Fate game would be a good idea. But a "Paypal-account" including my name is risky. Let's talk about this better per Email.zenyrrah hat geschrieben: Given your circumstances it would be an idea to open a Paypal-account for you (maybe you can do it yourself?) and those who can could pay directly to you a donation as a "Thank You".

Re: $$$$ Fate Gate Of Dawn $$$$
My brother and I first encountered Fate - Gates of Dawn by the means of an unoriginal version, and soon found out that the password request (and our false answers to them) made it not very funny to play a unoriginal version, as you at a certain time no longer could rally new members to your parties.OP hat geschrieben: I'm sorry, but unfortunately the company reLINE broke down the first time, just when the english version was about to be puplished. We therefore invested in the original game (and must be one of the 10, who actually bought the English version!). Since the game was very hard to come by friends of ours copied the manual.
Fate – Gates of Dawn are in my eyes one of the very few “real” RPG’s – mostly computer games, that advertise under the label as a RPG are hack and slash, and have a extremely linear storyline.
Unfortunely I’ve lost the original version of the game and only have one of the manuals left – this torments me from time to time…
