New World Computing's Heroes of Might and Magic series is one of the most successful in the history of computer games. Heroes had all the trappings of a successful game: it was pretty, easy to learn, appealed to a wide variety of gamers, and was based on an already established and well-known role-playing series (Might and Magic). The Heroes line also stands out as one of the very few turn-based franchises that has survived the shift toward "3D" and "real-time." Today, most companies flee in terror when a developer approaches them in hopes of publishing a turn-based game -- and yet the Heroes games still flourish. So much so that Heroes of Might and Magic IV was recently announced and should be on store shelves by Christmas 2001. But before getting into the latest sequel, let's take a look back at the origin of the Heroes games; and to do that, one must rewind back to the 286-driven days of 1990.
Herzlichen Glückwunsch auch von meiner Seite aus.
